Trey Greene (He/him/his) is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Charlotte, NC. He received his MSW from UNC Charlotte in 2016 when he started his clinical practice. Trey received in undergraduate education from Meredith College where he studied psychology, religion, and philosophy with the intention of serving clients with a variety of complex experiences, backgrounds, and beliefs. He is most passionate about work with survivors of complex trauma and individuals feeling isolated due to their identity, experiences, or beliefs including work with individuals who have experienced sexual violence, abusive relationships, religious trauma, dissociation and plurality, or who are recovering from narcissistic abuse or other abusive relationship or childhood experiences.
Trey has been a member of the Charlotte Transgender Healthcare Group since 2016. He previously served as executive director and was cofounder of Transcend Charlotte, which served thousands of transgender individuals in the region and was named Q-Notes Person of the Year in 2018 for his dedication to the community. He also served as a mental health counselor with Time Out Youth from 2016-2019.
Trey has provided education nationally on a range of LGBTQ issues in clinical care with a special focus on work with transgender trauma survivors and individuals experiencing sexual and domestic violence, including presentations with the National Sexual Assault Conference, Philadelphia Trans Wellness, A Call to Men, and the North Carolina Coalition Against Sexual Violence.
Trey’s treatment approach is electic, humanistic, and person-centered using models of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) among others based on the needs and goals of the clients he serves.
